The AdventHealth Emergency Department (ED) and Ginsburg tower project provides a much-needed expansion to hospital at the Health Village Campus.

The project had unique civil engineering challenges that were successfully met by the Poulos & Bennett team. The ED tower expansion was constructed over an existing dry stormwater pond that was kept in operation during construction and still functions today, allowing the hospital to expand within their current confines while meeting stringent City setback requirements from Lake Estelle and stormwater management criteria. The existing ED patient drop-off court was intermingled the vehicular access to the physicians underground parking garage which created daily conflict in traffic circulation for both the emergency department patrons and physicians.

Poulos & Bennett was able to develop a redesign to de-conflict the traffic and provide a separate physicians ramp to the underground parking area. These civil engineering solutions allowed the hospital to increase its ability to service the community, improve access operations, maintain required stormwater management, and enhance the aesthetic appearance of the hospital.
