Staff Planner

The Planning Group of Poulos & Bennett, LLC is actively seeking a Staff Planner for immediate employment. This position will support multi-disciplinary planning projects for private and public clients.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide research support, including interpretation and application of jurisdictional policies, codes and requirements, for due diligence and entitlement-related projects, such as annexations, comprehensive plan amendments, and rezoning applications.
  • Provide production support, including written reports and data analysis, in the preparation of planning and permitting documents and deliverables to clients.
  • Assist with client and jurisdiction meetings and workshops including preparation of agendas, presentations, and meeting minutes.
  • Accurate and timely submittal of planning and permitting application packages for jurisdictional review, including tracking of applications through the review process and preparation of responses to staff comments.
  • Lead and mentor entry level planners.
  • Involvement and leadership role in planning and/or real estate industry professional organization.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or related field or commensurate experience
  • 2+ years of relevant planning experience
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
  • Detail oriented and able to closely follow instructions and direction
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage priorities effectively
  • Excellent writing and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Above average skills using Adobe products, ArcGIS and/or Autodesk products
  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment with a sense of urgency
  • A consultative, service-oriented mindset and collaborative problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience in code-related research and analysis
  • Understanding of current planning concepts (e.g., Form Based Code, Transit Oriented Design, Missing Middle Housing, Smart Growth, Sustainable Development)
