Senior Planner

Responsibilities:

  • Provide research and interpretation of jurisdictional policies and requirements for due diligence and entitlement-related projects, such as annexations, comprehensive plan amendments, rezoning applications, conditional use applications, etc.
  • Prepare written reports and data analysis for entitlement-related applications.
  • Lead public outreach meetings and workshops including preparation of agendas, presentation materials, and meeting reports.
  • Interaction and communication with public and private sector clients.
  • Client representation at public hearings and meetings.
  • Involvement and leadership role in planning and/or real estate industry professional organization.
  • Gather, analyze, and integrate spatial data and determine how best the information can be displayed using GIS.
  • Design, update, and maintain GIS databases.
  • Prepare custom maps and diagrams from GIS data.
  • Design Esri Story Maps, Web Apps, and online interactive maps through Arc Online.
  • Work with project teams and clients to define data needs, project requirements, and required outputs for designing GIS products.
  • Incorporate AutoCAD engineering drawings into GIS media.
  • Compile geographic data from a variety of sources including surveys, satellite imagery, open data sources, and existing maps.
  • Prepare and incorporate metadata and other project documentation.
  • Geolocate and digitize spatial features into GIS formats

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Geography or related field or commensurate experience
  • 3+ years of relevant planning experience in progressively responsible roles
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
  • Experience with Esri GIS based design platforms and services – Arc Desktop, Arc Online, Arc Catalog, etc.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or the ability to transform AutoCAD engineering drawings into GIS formats.
  • Experience with GIS data management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail oriented and able to closely follow instructions and direction
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage priorities effectively
  • Excellent writing and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Above average skills using Adobe products, ArcGIS and/or Autodesk products
  • Experience with Python and Java coding.
  • Experience creating Esri Story Maps and Web Apps.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise systems.
