The Ft. White Substation is a 38-acre site located in Columbia County and abuts US Highway 27 to the South and is bounded by the Ichetucknee River and State Park to the north.
About the project
The project consisted of an expansion to an existing substation. The primary challenge associated with this project was the integration of the new substation yard into the existing yard with differing yard elevations. Additionally, the property is located within a flood plain without an established flood elevation. Poulos & Bennett met with the permitting agency and successfully worked through the establishment of a working floodplain elevation and subsequent impact and compensating storage calculations. This project’s design phase was completed in 2015 and the project is currently under construction.
